It's October, why not start crafting some decorations and gifts for Halloween? Pumpkin Jack is small, about 5cm/2 inches tall (including the stem) and does not take long to make. Suitable as decoration or even as a key chain. Personalise the face by sewing on the eyes, nose and mouth for various expressions.

Fasten off, leaving a tail long enough to circle the ball 3 times. This is to shape the ball into a pumpkin.
Imagine the ball divided into 6 parts, then sew around the ball. Push the darning needle through the back of the stitches across the middle of the ball for the first circle. Then, tug the yarn to tighten and create the indent.
Repeat another 2 times and you will find that the shape will look like this from the top:

And like this from the side:

Making the Stem:
Start with Green yarn
Round 1: sc 4 in magic ring [4]
Round 2- 3: sc around [4]
Fasten off and leave a tail to sew onto the body.
Jack's mouth:
Using a scissors, cut out a "U" shape mouth from the black felt, approximately 3cm wide and 2 rows in height.
After that, cut out the spaces for Jack's teeth.
Assembly:
Position the mouth on row 8 & 9, with the center on top of a pumpkin curve.
Sew it on using black thread.
Using black yarn, stich a triangle for the nose on row 6. Continue on to stitch 2 more triangles for the eyes on row 5, about 3 stitches apart.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Sew on the green stem on top of it's head, on round 1.
Congratulations, Jack is alive!
