Quutest Handmade- Poké Ball

This famous ball is easy to make and is a sure favourite among Pokémon fans.

These are great as gifts and even safe for babies and toddlers.


Skill Level : Beginner

Duration : 5 hours

Size : 10 cm (approx. 4") in diameter

Abbreviations:

sc - single crochet

inc - increase

dec - decrease

Materials :

3mm hook

Acrylic yarn in Red, Black and White

Darning needle

Polyester fiberfill

Making the Ball:

Start with White yarn

Round 1: sc 6 in magic ring [6]

Round 2: inc x6 [12]

Round 3: (sc, inc) x6 [18]

Round 4: (2sc, inc) x6 [24]

Round 5: (3sc, inc) x6 [30]

Round 6: (4 sc, inc) x6 [36]

Round 7: (5 sc, inc) x6 [42]

Round 8: (6 sc, inc) x6 [48]

Round 9: (15 sc, inc) x3 [51]

Round 10: sc around [51]

Round 11: (16 sc, inc) x3 [54]

Round 12: sc around [54]

Round 13: (26 sc, inc) x2 [56]

Round 14: sc around [56]

Change to Black yarn

Round 15: (27 sc, inc) x2 [58]

Round 16: (28 sc, inc) x2 [60]

Round 17: (28 sc, dec) x2 [58]

Change to Red yarn

Round 18: (27 sc, dec) x2 [56]

Round 19: sc around [56]

Round 20: (26 sc, dec) x2 [54]

Round 21: sc around [54]

Round 22: (16 sc, dec) x3 [51]

Round 23: sc around [51]

Round 24: (15 sc, dec) x3 [48]

Round 25: (6 sc, dec) x6 [42]

Round 26: (5 sc, dec) x6 [36]

Round 27: (4 sc, dec) x6 [30]

Round 28: (3 sc, dec) x6 [24]

Stuff the shell with fiberfill, making sure to pack it tighter so that the ball retains its round shape.

Round 29: (2 sc, dec) x6 [18]

Round 31: dec around [6]

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Making the Button:

Start with White yarn

Round 1: sc 6 in magic ring [6]

Round 2: inc x6 [12]

Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the black base

Make the base of the button with Black yarn

Round 1: sc 6 in magic ring [6]

Round 2: inc x6 [12]

Round 3: (sc, inc) x6 [18]

Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the ball

Assembly:

Sew the white button onto the center of the black round base . Once secured, fasten and weave the tail at the back. Cut off the remaining white yarn.


Now, sew the black base onto the center of the ball, covering the spot where the different yarn colours are joint. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

You are now ready to catch a Pokémon!
